About the Group
Theatre from the ashes of an older society
The Phoenix Players Drama Group has entertained theatre enthusiasts in the western region since its founding in Tubbercurry in 1945 — rising from the defunct Tubbercurry Players, as the phoenix rose from the ashes. Eight decades on, the group still performs at St. Brigid's Hall, with a strong record on the festival circuit and several All-Ireland titles to its name.
